As a Mental Health Therapist, you will provide psychological services including but not limited to assessment and psychotherapy treatment for employees and family members of the Calgary Police Service (CPS). Primary duties include:

  • Assess and treat clients with various presenting issues and psychological profiles, which may include workplace stress, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), mood and anxiety disorders, relationship challenges, and/or substance use and addiction concerns.
  • Communicate with clinical teams and when appropriate external agencies such as the Worker's Compensation Board and external therapists.
  • Provide leadership and support in organizational wellness activities.
  • Deliver education sessions to employees, clients to public audiences.

 
 
Qualifications 
  • A master's degree in Psychology or Social Work and a minimum of 5 years of experience in a mental health environment.
  • Must be registered with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) or the Alberta College of Social Work (ACSW) and in good standing with authorization to provide diagnosis and treatment in Alberta.
  • For Social Workers, Clinical Registration with the ACSW will be considered an asset.
  • Experience with the delivery of evidence-based therapy (i.e., Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and evidence-based trauma therapy (i.e. Prolonged Exposure, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Cognitive Processing Therapy, Accelerated Resolution Therapy)) is required.
  • Therapy experience working with first responders is an asset.
  • Success in this position requires excellent communication skills, efficiency and thoroughness, focus on results, impact and influence, planning and prioritizing, relationship building and service orientation.
Pre-employment Requirements 
  • An enhanced security clearance will be conducted.
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Education obtained from out of country must have or be able to obtain, an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) for confirmation of equivalent credentials.
