As the Telecommunications Shop Coordinator, you will oversee the daily operations of the technical shop facility including monitoring repairs by staff. Primary duties include:
  • Respond to service requests, inquiries and project briefings from all levels of the Calgary Police Service (CPS).
  • Repair and configure all communications equipment for the CPS, including cell phones, radios, in-vehicle mobile workstations, dispatch consoles and laser radar equipment.
  • Research new products and equipment.
  • Assign and monitor tasks and repairs and provide training and guidance.
  • Work with vendors and suppliers in the purchasing of parts, supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain inventory/equipment repair databases and monitor billing, finance and invoices.

Working Conditions: Occasional exposure to minor conditions or hazards.

 
Qualifications 
  • A 2 year technical certificate or diploma in Electronics or Telecommunications and a minimum of 5 years related experience.
  • Knowledge of IP Networking and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is required.
  • Experience with basic computer operating systems, P25 trunked radio and cell phone service software is also required.
  • Success in this position requires coaching and development, efficiency and thoroughness, planning and prioritizing/visionary and self-confidence. An effective communicator with a service orientation and the ability to build strong relationships.
Pre-employment Requirements 
  • An enhanced security clearance will be conducted.
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Education obtained from out of country must have or be able to obtain, an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) for confirmation of equivalent credentials.

Compensation: Pay Grade 10 $40.08 - 53.57 per hour
Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day 
work week with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle. 
Hours of work: Non-Standard 40 hour work week
