As a Senior Financial Accountant, you will be part of a team providing financial expertise and support to a business unit or group of business units. Working as a partner, you will use your understanding of a business unit's operations to help with achieving its financial goals and business objectives. Primary duties include:
  • Work with business unit representatives to collect, analyze and review information and provide explanations to prepare operating and/or capital budgets, budget status reports and monthly management reports, executive summaries, year-end and periodic financial statements, as well as forecasting variance projections.
  • Support Finance Lead and Finance Coordinator to prepare operating and/or capital budgets, budget status reports and monthly management reports, executive summaries, month-end/ periodic/ year-end financial statements, as well as forecasting variance projections.
  • Work with business units to review and analyze internal financial controls, risk management and business processes as required.
  • Review and analyze expenses, revenues, recoveries.
  • Perform variance analysis by thorough quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Perform position budgeting and reconciliations.
  • Participate on project teams or provide subject matter expertise to project groups as required.
 
Qualifications 
  • At least 13 accounting courses recognized by CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant).
  • At least 4.5 years of experience in a complex and highly computerized accounting environment.
  • Technical accounting skills including analyzing budgets and year-end financial statements and working papers.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) is required.
  • Working knowledge of PeopleSoft Financial and Supply Chain Management (FSCM), Human Capital Management (HCM) and Hyperion (Budget Planning and Reporting); Oracle SmartView for MS Office will be considered assets.
  • Creative thinker demonstrating analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills with customers and operations, and experience handling sensitive information.

work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle.
