As a Senior Project Engineer, you will be responsible for project management and delivery of geometric design projects within the Public Spaces Delivery Design group. As the initial point of contact for geometric design requests with the City, you will develop and hold the team accountable to the scope, schedule, and budget, assigning resources based on capacity and skill level. Primary duties include:

  • Coordinate the geometric design team effort for a high volume of projects, communicating with the design team, project sponsors, and project managers to interpret the required scope of work and provide a design scope, schedule, and budget. 
  • Advise project sponsors on requirements for starting work, such as funding, stage gating documentation, and public consultation. 
  • Participate in project review and coordination meetings, design review meetings, value engineering and charting sessions, and community/public forums. 
  • Establish and maintain tracking procedures and reports for senior management on project progress, and recommend actions if schedules are lagging. 
  • Develop and sustain strategic working relationships with internal and external customers, community and business organizations, participants, contributors, and partners to facilitate excellence in service and product delivery.
  • Act as a transportation planning and traffic engineering resource for the geometric design group; provide engineering services and analysis where needed to support geometric design. 
  • Provide indirect supervision for design engineers and technicians by allocating work, ensuring alignment to scope of work, and applying City design standards, policies, and guidelines.
