As part of the Corporate Planning and Performance (CPP) Business Unit, you will be part of the Service Improvement (SI) Division supporting service improvement initiatives across The City. The Service Improvement Division contributes to the themes of sustainability, value and performance advanced by the Corporate Planning and Financial Services department. The successful candidate will be expected to work alongside colleagues in the business unit to advance these themes and departmental priorities.

As a Corporate Consultant on the Service Improvement team, you will support various programs, projects, initiatives, and activities as part of The City's continuous service improvement efforts. As an internal consultant, you may also be involved in other corporate wide projects related to business planning, performance measurement, risk management and other emerging strategic initiatives, including providing strategic advice to areas across the organization. Your work environment within the SI Division, will vary from meeting clients at their preferred site to working behind the scenes at the location best suited to you and the team. Primary duties include:

  • Work as part of project teams on various service improvement initiatives across the organization.
  • Contribute to the development of The City's continuous service improvement programs.
  • Support interdepartmental project teams.
  • Support division leadership to identify, develop and prioritize opportunities for service improvement.
  • Assist senior staff in building and managing partner relationships.
  • Prepare client and internal deliverables such as formal reports, financial analysis, business cases, project plans, and client presentations.
 
Qualifications 
  • A master's degree with at least 4 years' experience in a professional setting; OR
  • A degree with at least 8 years' experience in a professional setting.
  • Previous exposure to service improvement/continuous improvement in a government, corporate, or management consulting setting would be considered an asset.
  • Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate project planning and delivery skills with the ability to prepare and present complex recommendations.
  • Knowledge of management tools such as business case development, cost-benefit analysis, performance measurement and service review and evaluation would also be considered an asset.
  • Success in this position requires excellent strategic, critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are required including the ability to build trust, influence and resolve conflicts.

Compensation: Level E $83,059 - 125,413 per annum
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
