In this role, you will be to support Planning and Development Services with data analytics, to support management with data-driven decision making, to develop and maintain operational and strategic dashboards, and to measure and monitor business processes and performance. Monitoring is used to assess business process issues, resource allocation, and to provide a basis for performance management. Primary duties include:
  • Analyze, interpret and configure raw data concisely and create data visualizations (For example: charts, graphs, dashboards) of key findings and trends for management.
  • Present key findings, their relevance, and potential recommendations based on performed data analyses to decision-makers.
  • Produce regular reports and presentations for management and staff including analysis of process timelines, volumes, and performance metrics.
  • Develop and maintain strategic and operational dashboards (in PowerBI) for management and staff.
  • Engage with management, staff, and partners to identify and clarify their data analytics needs.
  • Respond to inquiries by analyzing specific issues related to Planning and Development Services for a variety of clients including Council, the development industry, external agencies, and the public.
  • Apply quantitative and qualitative data analysis techniques using descriptive and statistical research methodologies.
  • Work collaboratively with database administrators and other internal partners on ensuring data integrity and data availability.
 
Qualifications 
  • A degree in Planning, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field with at least 3 years of related experience in quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and reporting.
  • Advanced level of proficiency in dashboard tools such as PowerBI is required.
  • Advanced level of proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL) is required.
  • Advanced level of proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Power Point, and Excel) is required.
  • Working knowledge of programming languages (For example: Python, R) for data analytics and statistics is considered an asset.
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of intermediate statistics and statistical theory is required and should be paired with knowledge of the analytical tools in Excel, including the use of formulas, statistical functions, and the development of charts and graphs.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills are essential.

Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day 
work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle. 
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
