As the Leader, Plumbing and Gas, you will be responsible for providing direction for the Plumbing and Gas section of Development, Business and Building Services. Primary duties include: 
  • Mentor, lead, and supervise Senior Safety Codes Officers and Safety Codes Officers in the plumbing and gas discipline by ensuring acts, regulations, policies and procedures are followed and administered consistently. 
  • Support staff development and training and support conflict resolution. 
  • Represent the City on a number of external boards, associations and committees at a provincial and national level that help develop and write Codes. 
  • Participate as a management team member to develop policies that will be adhered to throughout the department. 
  • Manage and support budget development and expenditure management. 
  • Consult with and advise the business unit and City Council on matter related to plumbing and gas regulations and safety. 
 
Qualifications 
  • A completed Journeyperson Certificate in Plumbing recognized by Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience some of which must be in a supervisory capacity.  
  • A completed Safety Codes Officer certification in the Plumbing and Gas discipline. 
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent), with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending OR; a valid Graduated Driver's License (GDL) with no more than 4 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
 
Pre-employment Requirements 
  • A security clearance will be conducted. 
  • Applicants will be tested for appropriate skills. 
  • Must obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.

Compensation: Level F $94,168 - 144,228 per annum
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
