As the Engineering Business Strategist, you will report to the Manager of Construction and Materials within the Mobility Business Unit.  You will provide strategic planning leadership in collaboration with the Manager. You will also support with day-to-day management activities, coordinating initiatives, and business planning. Primary duties include:

  • Synthesize and develop detailed longer-term engineering strategies that include (but not limited to) performance goals and objectives, benefits realization, quality management, data management and innovation.
  • Prepare divisional business plans and goals including workforce planning, overtime management, and reports pertaining to capital and operating budgets.
  • Offer leadership and support on behalf of the Manager for various Divisional projects/programs and provide strategic reports to senior management on Divisional initiatives.
  • Track divisional performance and achievements against established goals and work closely with the Mobility Leader of Business Planning.
  • Provide support in divisional safety and environmental initiatives to ensure consistency across the division and support tracking and reporting.
  • Research best industry practices in current activities, new initiatives, engineering/maintenance practices and technologies.
  • Write, edit, review, and track all reports going to Committees and Council and act as the main point of contact for Council requests.
  • Coordinate updates to our external and internal facing websites and monitor and update service requests.

 
Qualifications 
  • A degree in a related field.
  • You must have at least 4 years of relevant professional engineering experience obtained after receiving your P. Eng. Designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) complete with practicing status OR licensure and practicing status by the first day of work Click here for more details.
  • Experience developing business plans and writing reports will be considered an asset.
  • Success in this position requires strong communication and project management skills, and the ability to understand key performance indicators, quality control principles, and statistics.

work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
