The Leader, Fleet Maintenance supervises the Team Leads in Calgary Transit maintenance facilities and supports over 300 fleet maintenance employees. You will be responsible for the overall management and cost-effective operation of maintenance and repairs of the entire Transit fleet. Primary duties include:
  • Responsible for projects related to the maintenance of Calgary Transit buses and light rail vehicles.
  • Represent Transit Service Vehicles on projects such as new facility planning, facility expansions and construction projects that impact operations.
  • Lead the implementation and sustainment of a Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) program.
  • Coordinate with Technical Services to evaluate new technologies and procedures, exploring new business opportunities and developing strategies to ensure that Transit Service Vehicles remains cost effective and efficient in an ever-changing maintenance environment.
  • Coach, mentor and provide performance management to staff including hiring, discipline, goal setting and career development.
  • Coordinate with all areas of Calgary Transit to determine commitment levels at facilities are aligned with current fleet numbers and to determine staffing.
  • Participate in the development of short-term and long-term Transit Service Vehicles business plan, gather data and provide input to the Transit Service Vehicles budget.
  • Maintain consistent and accurate reporting by collaborating with all areas in Calgary Transit.
  • Create and manage Service Level Agreements with internal and external customers.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with ATU Local 583, investigate worker complaints, participate in the grievance process and monthly Operations meetings.
  • Implement and standardize safety initiatives across all facilities based on Calgary Transit Safety Priorities.
     
 
Qualifications 
  • A degree in Commerce, Business Administration, or a related field and at least 10 years of related experience OR; 
  • A degree in Engineering and at least 10 years of related experience.   
  • A Journeyman Certificate as a Technician or Auto Body Technician recognized by Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training Board would be considered a strong asset.
  • Ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
