As the Traffic Operations Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing the activities of sign marking, road marking, sign shop and detours. Primary duties include:
  • Supervise Traffic Operation activities by directing the activities of foremen and field staff while adhering to the collective agreement and/or policies.
  • Plan, schedule, supervise and coordinate staff that provide 7 day coverage/24hr operational services.
  • Establish performance expectations, conduct performance reviews and direct and/or deliver training.
  • Plan, organize, and monitor established objectives to ensure quality and service standards are developed and met.
  • Evaluate methods and processes that improve efficiency and mitigate risks.
  • Ensure safe work practices are developed and adhered to, follow up on near miss and incident reporting, field inspections and safety task observation reporting.
  • Coordinate work activities, follow up, respond to internal/external parties and apply corrective actions.
  • Assist Leaders with setting and achieving goals and objectives.
 
Qualifications 
  • A completed 2 year technical diploma or a related field with at least 10 years of experience in traffic operations.
  • Intermediate working knowledge of Work Order Management Systems such as Hansen or Infor Public Sector.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) is required.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits, no current suspensions or charges pending is required.
  • Ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
  • Success in this position will require strong communication skills, demonstrated problem solving skills, highly organized, detail oriented, with experience working in a fast-paced operations focused environment with short timelines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary for success in this position.

Compensation: Level E $83,059 - 125,413 per annum 
Days of Work: This position works a 5 day
work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle. (Work hour may include Evenings and Weekend shift, based on operational need)
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
