As an Advisor, Corporate Finance - Investor Relations you will be an integral part of the Investor Relations program within Treasury at The City. You will be a key development and operational contact for reporting to internal and external sources and ensuring consistency of information presented to all interested parties. You will perform financial analysis and reporting, while monitoring compliance to financial contracts and statutory requirements. You will monitor capital markets and transactions precedent and be a key interface with the capital markets to inform the evaluation of capital expenditures, debt capital markets issuances and other initiatives by the Treasury team. Primary duties include:

  • Lead the development and management of documentation to support The City's new Municipal Bond Issuance Program, which includes investor presentations, investor correspondence, due diligence materials and internal communications such as debt committee memos.
  • Act as a liaison with finance partners, business units, subsidiaries, civic and external partners to help manage and shape other public disclosure on debt, such as annual financial reports, budget documents and sustainability reports.
  • Lead the development of materials to inform the decision-making process of The City's debt committee and seek continuous improvement to the reporting.
  • Organize and participate in meetings with external credit rating agencies.
  • Coordinate and assess the information from Debenture Management Systems and Treasury Management Systems
  • Conduct research and analysis on capital markets and transactions precedent to inform The City's capital advisory and debt structuring process within Treasury. 
  • Work closely with other teams with Treasury to ensure reporting and tracking of other debt management activities.
  • Support the Investor Relation program and respond to inquiries as they arise.
  • Support the Corporate Finance reporting requirements for internal partners and Council.
  • Support the Investment teams internal debt issuance processes.

 
Qualifications 
  • A degree in Finance or Accounting accompanied by a professional designation such as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA), or a Chartered Business Valuator (CBV) with at least 5 years of related experience OR;
  • A Master of Business Administration (MBA) with at least 3 years of related experience. 
  • Previous experience in and working knowledge of financial reporting is required.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Financial and Treasury Management Systems is considered to be an asset.
  • Success in this position requires strong financial, analytical, and computer skills in PowerPoint and Excel; effective communication and organizational skills; and the ability to work as a part of a team.
