As a Water Operations Coordinator, you will be responsible for the coordination, documentation and administration of vehicles and equipment within Water Services. Primary duties include:

  • Coordinate approximately 500 vehicle and equipment (V&E) units including the administration of the base fleet, maintaining unit inventory lists, vehicle documentation (unit numbers, class codes, life stage, max payload, specifications, replacement planning and build.
  • Collaborate daily with Fleet & Inventory and Water Services operations staff regarding planning, procurement, maintenance, alterations, improvements, vehicle issues and lifecycle replacements.
  • Coordinate the acquisition and use of permanent and temporary Water Services V&E (signing out units, replacement units, relinquishments and build sheets).
  • Participate in budget planning and maintain decision records.
  • Ensure all V&E are safe and the best fit for the operational needs, including periodic field inspections.  Participate in vehicle safety improvement planning and implementation (such as ergonomic improvement and installation of safety devices).
  • Tracking operational hours and expenditure to ensure proper V&E usage and propose areas for improvements.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends.
  • Liaise with vendors and suppliers.
 
Qualifications 
  • A High school diploma plus completed job related coursework such as business or fleet maintenance.
  • At least 5 years of related experience that includes a combination of: vehicle procurement, operations or maintenance; vehicle or other asset tracking and management, experience with municipal operations. 
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits and no charges or suspensions pending is required.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of Water Services vehicles is preferential.
  • Completed fleet training courses on Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Cargo Load Securement, and Air Brakes would be considered an asset.
  • You have excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • You can work both collaboratively as an effective team member as well as independently.
  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with diverse levels of staff, management, as well as contractors.
 
Pre-employment Requirements 
  • Must obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.

Compensation: Pay Grade 10 $40.08 - 53.57 per hour 
Days of Work: This position typically works a 5 day 
work week, with 1 day off in each 3 week cycle. 
Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week
