As a Weight Room Monitor, you will oversee the safety of weight room participants and basic maintenance of equipment and weight room program space. Primary duties include:
  • Ensure safety of participants.
  • Light cleaning and basic maintenance of equipment and program space.
  • Maintain written records if required.
  • Provide first aid to customers as needed.
  • Ensure proper usage of weight room equipment by customers and assist customers with equipment as required.
  • Provide weight room orientations to new customers.
 
Qualifications 
  • Non-Certified monitors must be a minimum of 16 years of age and have experience in weight training and equipment maintenance. 
  • Certified monitors must be a minimum of 18 years of age and must possess a related certification such as: Alberta Fitness Leadership Certification Association (AFLCA) certification in Exercise Theory and/or Resistance Training. 
  • Success in this position requires excellent customer service and strong communication skills. 
Pre-employment Requirements 
  • Current Intermediate First Aid certification (equivalent to Standard First Aid, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) level "C", and Automated External Defibrillator (AED)) is required. 
  • A valid Security Clearance must be provided. Date of completion must be within the last 12 months. 
  • Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. 
  • Applicants may be contacted, interviewed and hired throughout the duration of this competition.

Certified: $19.00 - 24.00 per hour 
Days of Work: This position works various shifts 
including daytime, evenings, and weekends. 
Hours of work: On-Call hours will vary based on 
operational requirements.
